Studded Dog Collar
Whether it’s Spike from Tom and Jerry fame or any one of cartoons’ fierce guard dogs, the studded dog
collar has been around for a long time; reinforcing the dangerous and fearsome reputation of any dog who
wears it.
Good old American craftsmanship
Studded, custom made leather dog collars with their antique silver or antique gold finished studded ornaments
and military style buckle is no plain, ordinary dog collar. This is a statement or rather a warning. “This dog
means business”, it says. It is a status symbol and speaks loudly of your dog’s personality and value to its owner.
This is not an inexpensive collar, when properly made. But people who care enough about their dogs and want to put
forth a specific message will find the studded leather dog collar a good investment for their furry friend or guard
dog.
Spikes or a Studded Dog Collar?
If studs aren’t enough to scare off the neighborhood cat burglar, a spiked dog collar certainly should. There
are many designs of studded and spiked dog collars on the market. Black, red and even pink (I’m not sure why) are
readily available on Amazon and in pet stores and online stores everywhere.
Who’s the Alpha dog?
Probably one of the funniest things I’ve seen was a Chihuahua with a spiked collar. I will admit, the little guy
had attitude and the collar to go along with it. There are narrower studded dog collars for smaller dogs that even
come in a variety of fancy collars (little dogs are apparently far more style conscious than the big dopes that
guard our warehouses). Color choices are emerald green, jade, baby blue, blue, black, pink, purple, mandarin,
orange, red and yellow.
Studded Dog Collar Sizes
Measure your dog’s neck with a tape measure to figure out the correct size collar that they will need. Size 14
is for dogs with 10” to 11 ½’’ necks; size 12 is made for dogs with necks measuring 8” to 9 ½”; and dogs with 6” to
7 ½” necks will wear a size 10 for small dog sizes. Big dogs with big strength would benefit from a 1 ½” wide 27”
long black leather studded collar. Actual sizes for the large dogs run 19” to 22” is a size 26; 17” to 20” is a
size 24; and size 22 fits dogs with a neck measuring 15” to 18”. I was able to find an online store that had the
big dog collars in stylish colors as well, but that’s a choice you and your furry four-legged friend will have to
make together.
Tough enough
Of course those really, severely rough and tough dogs can be truly intimidating in a black leather, alternating
shotgun shells studded handmade dog collar made from 28 gauge shotgun shells. With custom made models, you get to
pick your collar size, the width of the leather and most of all any color you want for your dog! It’s basically
your choice of width, gauges and colors. 12 gauge shells can be quite large, especially if you have a smaller dog.
They would do well on a large dog, however.
